Challenging but rewarding
When it comes to finding a beautiful and challenging walk in the Peak District, look no further than this hidden gem!
The trail itself may only be two miles long, but it offers plenty of excitement and adventure due to the numerous stream crossings that you’ll encounter along the way.
For those looking to get in a good workout, both you and your furry companion will find yourselves working hard to traverse the rocky terrain and navigate the water’s twists and turns.

If you’re traveling away from Sheffield, as you’re driving along the A628 it will open up and you will be greeted with the valley below you on your left.
Come across a steep road on the left, take this turn, at the bottom you will find the parking area.
From the parking area, carry on walking down away from the main road.
You want to cross the bridge and immidiately on the left cross the stile. (there is plenty of room for your dog to walk under it.)
continue along this gravel road keeping the stream on your left hand side.
As you meander along the waters edge, ignore the ford on your left and continue up still keeping the stream on your left.
Here is when its gets a little more technical. there’s numerous ways to work your way up. Find the easiest way for you with least resistance. You’ll probably find yourself rock hopping as you zigzag your way up. There’s also a steep narrow path that runs along the right side of the stream,
Its worth baring in mind the from 1st March -n31st July dogs must be kept on lead which means you have 1 less hand to steady yourself, making it considerably harder.
Congrats you’ve made it, Its a sight to be seen. I used my time here to take it all in and to recharge with my pack lunch ready for the hike back.
We’re not done yet. If your still full of adventure there is very steep path on the right that goes beyond this waterfall.
Not too far beyond it is another smaller waterfall that definitely with viewing.
You can continue further but this is where i turned back.
You’ll be taking the same route back, returning to the starting point.
